Bright Star Catalogue

Bright Star Catalogue (BSC), the Catalogue of bright stars, also known as Yale Catalogue of Bright Stars or Yale Bright Star Catalogue, is a star catalogue that lists all the stars of magnitude 6.5 or less, which corresponds roughly all the stars visible to the naked eye. The 5th edition is currently available online at several sites. Although the abbreviation of the catalogue is BS or YBS, quotes stars listed in the catalogue using HR before the serial number, after the name of his predecessor, the Harvard Revised Photometry Catalog created in 1908 by the observatory Harvard.
